Being single is a gift; a gift
that is most wasted by all us as we rush to get where the grass looks greener.
You got to learn to stand alone and still be whole; complete, happy, and
independent. A relationship based on dependency is bound to get bumpy unexpectedly;
just as you can’t drive with someone’s eyes, and not hit the bumps (and
Potholes) hard, so also is every young person required to be independent, free,
and freedom is for those who can be responsible for themselves.
One reason why we could be having
accelerated rates of divorce is because most people who are getting married
have really never been single. They have had a series of broken relationships in
the past and they just can’t keep the one they have sealed by a vow working. Being
truly single, means one knows what they are leaving when getting into marriage.
There is no better way of living
this life than living your time. Many a times we want to rush through the
special moments of our lives. We then end up lamenting, if only we could have lived
better. Learn to live your moments. That’s what we are meant to do.
We are all relationally wired – to
derive joy, peace and contentment on the presence of another(s) in our lives. The
problem would be when we are so taken that we cannot manage to stand alone. The
instinctive thing to do when one relationship comes to a hurtful end is to jump
into another wagon when the previous wagon gets broken.
In life, we all need to have an
umbrella. You may never know when it could rain or when the sun may drop closer
with a few inches. Be someone who can stand up to be counted, withstand the
push and pull to keep on the foundation. When you are the person who always
tries to push your way into the covering of someone’s umbrella albeit to try
and cover yourself from the elements, then you will have to accept to be that person
who takes the push and shove.
Relationships can turn sour.
People do part ways and move on. It has happened, it has been happening and it
will happen for someone, somewhere, somewhat, and some way. If it ever happens to you, remember, you are
well able to rise up and move on.
